Questions & Answers

1.         Why should I buy from Stone by Nature?

When buying granite vanity tops online (or as a sight unseen custom order) there are only a handful of major players, Home Depot, Lowes, e-counters.com and homegranite.com. All others are new entrants and or minor, local players. We encourage you to visit these sites and compare price and service.

What you need to be aware of is that all our major competitors are Resellers, this means they are selling products manufactured by, packed by and delivered by others, they never personally handle your granite vanity top. Stone by Nature is the direct importer and the direct manufacturer of custom vanity tops. All products are directly inspected by our highly trained technicians prior to shipping. We do not ship products that do not meet our standards.

Stone by Nature's prices are the lowest you will find anywhere, you are dealing directly with the importer and manufacturer, we have no commissions or markups to pay resellers. No fancy showroom, no sales staff. ( Coming to Orlando? Come on down and visit our huge warehouse and personally select your granite vanity top)

Stone by Nature offers:

The largest color selection online.

The largest vanity top size selection online.

The best crating and home delivery system anywhere.

The lowest price in the USA.

The best customer service.

The best quality control.

All Stone by Nature products are guaranteed to be free of manufacturer defects.

2.         How thick is the granite?

There are two thickness of granite commonly used in countertop construction. 2cm (3/4 inch) or 3cm (1 1/4 inch) thickness. Stone by Nature uses 2cm material for our Stock Granite Vanity Tops and 3cm material for our Custom Granite Vanity Tops and local Granite Kitchen Countertop installations.

3.         What grade or quality of granite is used in your vanity tops and is it real granite?

For many of our customers this is their first experience with Natural Stone Countertops, this grouping includes, granite, marble, quartz and onyx and some exotic products. All these products are naturally occurring in the Earth's crust and each has its own unique characteristics.

Stone by Nature deals primarily in granite, one of the hardest and most durable surfaces available. Granite is an igneous rock formed deep within the Earth's crust, subjected to intense pressure and heating, it is the chemical makeup of the raw materials that produce the colors and patterns that we prize for our countertops.

Granite occurs in virtually all mountainous regions, most deposits are common generic granite colors, mainly black, gray, white and pink. Limited deposits contain varied colors and patterns, it is these deposits that are quarried and cut into slabs for the stone industry. Stone by Nature carries granite from many of the major stone producing regions including, India, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Scandinavia and others. Grading of granite is done by color, pattern and structural integrity, we only use first quality stone and yes it is all real granite.

4.         Are the sinks installed prior to shipping and how hard is it to install the countertop?

All Stone by Nature products are designed for simple installation by homeowners with basic DIY skills.

Stone by Nature ships all our vanity tops in custom made wooden crates with the sinks, carefully packed and strapped on top of the crate, instructions and all hardware for installation are included with your order.

The sinks are installed with basic hand tools typically taking less than five minutes.

We do not attach the sinks to allow you a choice in sink color and to facilitate safe shipping, once the sinks are attached it is virtually impossible to safely crate and ship these tops, others will try but their breakage rate is extremely high, trust us on this one, we know what we are doing!

5.         Shipping? How are your granite vanity tops shipped, what do I do if it is broken?

Stone by Nature is the most highly experienced online seller of granite vanity tops Period!

All Stone by Nature granite vanity tops are packed in custom made wooden crates, all other shippers use cardboard boxes.

All Stone by Nature granite vanity tops are shipped by Transport Truck, regardless of size, other suppliers ship up to 49 inch tops via FedEx or UPS ground services and larger tops in a cardboard box strapped to a pallet and delivered by truck.

So why do we go to such extremes of crating and do not use courier delivery systems?

Courier services use mechanical sorting systems and single driver delivery and shipping by truck with granite vanity tops in cardboard boxes results in a very high rate of damage.

Read what one of our customers says:

Dear Stone by Nature:

I received my bathroom vanity top on Tuesday July 21st; in record speed might I add I just order it on Thursday. The vanity top is beautiful and in perfect condition. I think your packaging is brilliant!! I had ordered another granite top from Home Depot and when it came it was busted in a million pieces. I would also like to add that the Roadway driver that delivered the top was the nicest delivery person that has ever delivered merchandise to me (and that has been a lot because we have done a lot of remodeling). I just wanted to say it has been a pleasure doing business with you, I only wish every company was this simple to order from. I wish you much success in the future.

Cathy Fry

Stone by Nature has the lowest damage rate in the industry at less than a 1% damage rate, virtually all damage is caused by extreme impact and handling issues during transport.

This brings up the issues of what to do if your shipment is damaged? Yes it can happen, so here is your part, when you receive your vanity top it will be delivered in a large transport truck, the driver will lower the vanity top to the ground and if possible put it in your garage, at this point they will ask you to sign the delivery slip "received in good order", this releases the transport company from liability. You must carefully inspect the crate for damage, top, both ends and underneath. If any visible damage is present mark it on the delivery slip and insist upon opening the crate prior to signing. If the vanity top is damaged, refuse the shipment and send it back to Stone by Nature for insurance claim and we will promptly ship you a replacement.

6.         What is the difference between a Stock DIY Granite Vanity Top and a Custom Granite Vanity Top?

Stock Granite Vanity Tops are made in bulk, using the same pattern, to fit common bathroom vanity cabinets in sizes 31, 37, 43, 49, 61 and 73 inch sizes, all single sink models have the sink cutout in the center of the vanity top, double sink models have fixed sink center options (see technical drawings for more information) All Stock Granite Vanity Tops are made from 2cm (3/4 inch) thick material.

Custom Granite Vanity Tops are made to order from our large selection of pre-edged (ogee or flat polish) 3cm (1 1/4 inch) thick material. There are no pre-existing cutouts on this material and it can be used as a slab table top, vessel sink application or undermount sink application.

Custom tops are used when you have a specific layout, custom cabinets or simply want the look to the heavier material or a specific color of granite.  The sink location, faucet configuration and edging specifications are up to you.

Please note that as an online supplier we only offer custom vanity tops in a straight front edge application, we cannot do bow fronts, bump outs or sculptured edges. These type of applications require a skilled technician to come to your home and make a hard template of your installation, please contact a local fabricator for these jobs.
